Abstract
Reexamination of Historical Materials for Haedongjegookgi(海東諸國紀) Haedongjegookgi(海東諸國紀) recording Japanese physical features, political affairs, customs․the arrival of foreign envoy(來朝記事) and invitation and reception of Joseon(朝聘應接紀), was compiled by Shin, Sook Joo(申叔舟) in 1471. This study attempted reexamination of historical materials for Haedongjegookgi focusing on the arrival of foreign envoy contained at <Ilbongookgi(日本國紀)> and <Yoogugookgi(琉球國紀)> in Haedongjegookgi. There are 8 articles in <Cheonwangdaeseo(天皇代序)> in Ilbongookgi 「日本國紀」. It started from Baekje dispatching envoy to japan in 320, and the exchange with ancient three countries is developed in the order of Baekje, Shilla and Goguryo. This aspect shows quite different opinion from the existing theory that about 405, Wanginbaksa(王仁博士) dispatched to Japan, Confucianism and Beakje culture were transmitted. The arrival article of foreign envoy in Paldoyookshipyookjo<八道六十六州> is the content that other 8 lords than military generals residing at 5 local states arrived treated as a Geoyoosa(巨酋使). The initial arrival began from 1408, but most of which was written from the 1460s till the 1470s. Joseon gave to these envoys cotton cloth, fine cloth, rice and bean, and instead they brought copper, and dyestuffs as special products. The arrival article of Thushima minutely described Soojikin, Soodoseoin, Segyunseon convenant and Sesa rice, by which explained the picture of Daemado economically completely subordinated. Also it recorded the ports(浦口) all envoys resided in Daemado and number of houses, especially, in regard to Japanese pirate raiders, it used the term of commander of pirate raiders or head. It does not reduce tension. In this respect, the arrival article of Haedongjegookgiis a good data to plainly analyze where Japanese coming to Joseon were from, for what they came.
