이 연구는 청소년의 임신과 출산, 가족 해체와 가출, 외모 콤플렉스와 다이어트 등 여자 청소년의 현실 문제를 표상하는 청소년 소설을 분석해, 가족 해체와 가족 찾기, 임신의 충격과 두려움을 극복하고 출산을 통해 자기 삶을 선택하는 소녀의 성장, 남성적 시선에 따른 다이어트 거부 등 소녀의 내면을 살펴보았다. 아울러 자아 성찰을 통한 소녀의 성장이 학습자인 청소년의 정체성 형성과 어떤 방식으로 연결되는지를 탐구하였다. 이를 통해, 소녀의 성장과 정체성 형성에 초점을 두는 청소년 소설교육의 의의를 사회적·교육적 차원에서 규명하고, 소녀의 성장과 정체성 형성을 표상하는 청소년 소설의 사회적·교육적 가치를 재조명하고, 소녀의 임신과 출산, 가족 해체와 가출, 외모 콤플렉스와 다이어트 문제에 대한 올바른 정체성 형성을 제시하는 청소년 소설교육의 방향을 모색하였다.
Abstract
This study analyzes young adult novels that represent real-life issues faced by adolescent girls, such as pregnancy and childbirth, family dissolution and running away, and body image concerns and dieting. It examines the growth of girls who overcome the shock and fear of pregnancy, choose their own lives through childbirth, and seek family after family breakdown or running away, as well as their rejection of dieting shaped by the male gaze. Furthermore, the study explores how girls’ self-reflection and growth are connected to adolescent readers’ identity formation. Through this analysis, the study clarifies the social and educational significance of young adult literature education that focuses on girls’ growth and identity formation, re-examines the social and educational value of young adult novels that portray girls’ growth and identity, and seeks directions for young adult literature education that promotes healthy identity formation regarding issues such as pregnancy and childbirth, family dissolution and running away, and body image concerns and dieting.
