이 연구는 부산에서 60년 이상 춤활동을 펼치고 있는 김진홍의 창작춤 작품 경향을 분석하여 부산무용사에서 김진홍 창작춤이 갖는 의미를 규명하고자 하였다. 김진홍은 1955년에 무용학원을 개설한 후부터 1990년대까지 부산에서 창작활동을 활발히 하였다. 그동안 전통춤에 가려서 드러나지 않았던 김진홍의 창작춤에 대한 연구는 부산의 근현대 창작무용사에 있어서 중요한 자료로서 가치 있는 작업이 될 것이다. 이에 본 연구에서 도출된 김진홍의 창작춤 경향은 크게 기존의 민속춤을 극장식 무대에 맞게 창작한 작품(전통춤의 재창작), 신무용기 즉 민속춤의 현대화 시기(1920~ 1950)에 추어졌던 춤들을 재구성 한 작품과 신무용 형식인 남녀 간의 애정과 낭만적 정서를 소재로 한 작품(신무용), 무용에 줄거리를 부여하고 극적요소를 도입한 창작 작품(무용극), 이 밖에 전통적인 춤사위를 근간에 두고 작품주제에 맞는 표현기법을 시도한 작품(창작춤)으로 구분되어 진다. 김진홍 창작춤의 가치는 부산의 향토무용을 토대로 춤을 재창작하여 향토무용의 계승에 주력한 점, 부산에서 무용창작을 위한 다방면적인 방법론을 모색한 점, 부산의 무용극 영역을 확대한 점 등이다.
Abstract
This study aimed to find the value of Kim Jinhong’s creative dance in the modern and contemporary history of dance in Busan by analyzing the characteristics of his dance, which had been continuing in Busan for over 60 years. Kim had been active in his creative work from 1955 when he had opened a dance school to the 1990s. The study of his creative dance, which was hidden behind traditional dances, was a valuable historical data in the modern and contemporary history of creative dance in Busan. This study categorized his dances into these types: recreated traditional dances, which made traditional dances suitable for stage through recreation; new dances, the restructured dances of New Dance Period and the dances of New Dance Period style to love between men and women and express romantic atmosphere; dance dramas, which added stories to dance moves; and creative dances, which were created based on traditional dance moves. The value of his creative dance could be found in many aspects. He tried to inherit folk dance by recreating the dance of Busan and sought diverse methodologies to create dances. Furthermore, he expanded the field of dance drama in Busan.
