Abstract

Purpose: This study conducted an in-depth analysis using grounded theory to explore the necessity and activation strategies for national and public operation of disability arts performance organizations in Korea. These organizations play a vital role in promoting cultural diversity and supporting the independence of artists with disabilities; however, the need for national and public management has been raised to ensure their sustainable and stable operation. Methods: In-depth interviews were conducted with stakeholders and experts involved with disability arts performance organizations, and data were analyzed based on grounded theory to identify key concepts and categories. Through this process, the necessity of national and public operation and activation strategies were specified. Result: The study found multiple factors supporting the need for national and public operation of disability arts performance organizations. Key strategies for activation included expanding institutional support from the government, improving societal awareness, and securing resources. Additionally, the findings suggest that establishing a public support system is essential for the sustainable growth of disability arts and the expansion of its social value. Conclusion: National and public operation of disability arts performance organizations can strengthen the sustainability of these organizations and contribute to social inclusion and diversity in disability arts. This study highlights the need for increased financial support from the government and improvements in the management system, providing a useful foundation for future policy development and practice in the disability arts performance sector.
