본 연구는 포용예술과 장애예술인에 대하여 공연현장에서 활동하고 있는 공연예술인들의 인식은 어떠한가를 알아보기 위해 수행되었다. 이에 2019년 5월 15일부터 7월 1일에 걸쳐 면담 회, 전화상담 회를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 참여자는 전국에서 활동 중인 연극 연출가, 극단이나 시립·도립에 소속된 정단원 배우, 뮤지컬 배우, 공연기획자, 공연 스태프로 종사하는 한국예술인복지재단에서 예술인 활동경력이 인정된 공연예술인으로 선정하였다. 면담 시 질문지 구성은 선행연구를 토대로 5가지 반구조화된 질문내용을 추출하였고, 면담자료는 질적 연구 방법인 연속적 비교분석법으로 분석하였다. 타당도와 신뢰도를 위해 삼각측정법과 코딩자간 신뢰도, 참여자 확인 기법을 사용하였다. 그 결과 2개의 대주제, 4개의 상위주제, 9개의 하위주제가 도출되었다. 이에 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 포용예술에 관하여 공연예술인들의 생각을 들어보면 낯설기만 하고 많이 접하지 않은 용어라고 생각하는 것으로 드러났다. 더불어 포용예술이란 단어는 생소하지만 장애예술인과 함께 공연하는 것에 대해서는 예술인으로서 당연히 먼저 앞장서야 한다고 생각했다. 그러나 공연예술인들이 장애에 대한 올바른 인식 부족으로 장애예술인과 공연했을 때 생기게 될 문제점에 대해 앞서 큰 걱정을 하는 모습을 보이기도 했다. 둘째, 장애예술인에 대한 공연예술인들의 생각은 어떠한가에 대한 결과는 장애예술인들이 공연하는 무대를 보고 자신을 돌아보기도 하고 장애예술인들이 가진 능력에 무척 놀라웠다고 이야기했다. 또한, 그 무대를 보면서 장애예술인도 나와 같은 직업을 가진 예술인이라는 생각을 한 것으로 드러났다. 더 나아가 공연현장에서 장애가 있는 역할을 실제 장애예술인들이 한다면 훨씬 리얼하고 그로 인해 많은 사람에게 장애에 대한 올바른 이해를 도울 수 있으리라 생각했다. 그러한 면으로 볼 때 장애예술인과 협업은 상당히 의미 있고 기대할 만한 일이라고 이야기하였다. 하지만 현실적으로 우리나라의 극장 환경과 구조가 실제 장애예술인들이 공연을 하기에 너무 위험하며, 적절하지 못하다는 이야기도 나왔다. 따라서 이러한 결과는 장애예술인들과 비장애예술인들의 올바른 협업의 무대를 위해 실질적이고 구체적인 방안을 모색하고, 문화예술의 올바른 사회적 통합을 이룰 수 있는 문화 환경을 개선하는데 의의가 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the perception of performance artists working on performance site towards the inclusive arts and artists with disability. The subjects were ten performance artists who are engaged in theater directors, regular actor and musical actor working for theater company or municipal/provincial governments, performance planner, or performance staff and have career of artists recognized by the Korea Artist Welfare Foundation. The in-depth interview, a qualitative methodology, was conducted and the results are as follows: First, The performance artists perceived the inclusive arts as an unfamiliar and unusual term and they had no accurate understanding of whether it refers specific objects or it is encompassed broadly in the field of arts broadly. The performance artists also expressed concern about the problems that would result from a lack of their proper awareness of disability when performing with artists with disability. They, however, responded very positively to the collaboration with artist with disability and, given opportunity, had a strong commitment to lead such performance to lead.Second, The performance artists, after seeing the performance stage of the artist with disability, thought that they are artists certainly just with disabilities and had the same profession with them, and responded that the stage of artists with disabilities was an opportunity for them to reflect on their lives. The performance artists had concerns that the current performance facilities in Korea were too poor to expose the performance of artists with disabilities though they expected a collaboration stage with artists with disabilities. This study is expected to contribute to the practical and specific planning for excellent collaboration stage of artists with disability and non-disability and to improve cultural environments ensuring social integration in the field of culture and arts.
