본 연구는 한국의 관광수지 개선을 위한 유용한 정책과 전략적 제안을 위한 것으로 동남아시아 최대의 방한 시장인 태국 관광객의 지출 특성과 관광 지출 결정요인에 대해 분석하였다. 본 연구의 분석에 사용된 자료는 한국관광데이터랩에서 제공하는 2019 외래 관광객조사 원자료 중 방한 태국 관광객 자료를 활용하였다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위해 먼저 빈도 분석을 통해 방한 태국인 관광객의 인구통계학적 특성과 관광 관련 특성을 살펴보았다. 다음으로 토빗(Tobit) 모델을 통해 방한 태국 관광객의 지출 결정 요인에 대해 추정하였다. 인구통계학적 요인에서는 연령은 식음료비와 문화 오락 관련 지출 경비에 영향을 미치고 연간 소득은 문화 오락 관련 지출 경비에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정되었다. 관광 관련 특성 요인에서는 여행 형태는 식음료비, 교통비, 문화 오락 관련 지출에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정되었다. 그리고 동반자 여부는 문화 오락 관련 지출에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정되며, 재방문 여부와 방문 횟수는 교통비에 영향을 미치는 것으로 추정되었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to provide useful policies and strategic proposals to improve the tourism profits, and the expenditure characteristics of Thai tourists to Korea, the largest market in Southeast Asia, and the determinants of tourism expenditure were analyzed. The data used in the analysis of this study used the data of Thai tourists to Korea among the original data for the 2019 foreign tourist survey provided by the Korea Tourism Data Lab. To achieve the research objectives, we first examined the demographic characteristics and tourism-related characteristics of Thai tourists to Korea through frequency analysis. Next, the determinants of expenditure of Thai tourists to Korea were estimated through the Tobit model. In terms of demographic factors, it was estimated that age affects food and beverage expenses and cultural entertainment-related expenditures, and annual income affects cultural entertainment-related expenditures. In terms of tourism-related characteristics factors, it was estimated that the travel type affects food and beverage expenses, transportation expenses, and cultural entertainment-related expenditures. And the companion is estimated to affect cultural entertainment-related expenditure, and revisit and the number of visits affect transportation expenditure.
