국내 자동차산업의 대일 의존에 관한 사적 연구 -자동차 부품산업을 중심으로-

Abstract

The scale of GDP of Korea (2004) was 680.1 billion dollars and Korea is the 11th largest economic country and the export scale marked 253.8 billion dollars in 2004 raising Korea up to the 12th largest exporting country. But in the back of such legendary economic success, the structural problems of dependancy on Japan of components and materials and subsequent chronic trade deficit are latent. This study analyzed the changes of the dependency on Japan and competitiveness against Japan focusing on domestic auto parts industry to grasp the source of such problems. Also, the analysis of dependency on Japan of gear box that is the core component and it's simulation was paralleled. The result indicates that although the automobile industry is continuously growing in volume and external shape, the reality of auto parts industry is that the dependency on Japan is high and competitiveness index is low. The competitiveness of highly functional core components against Japan is absolutely inferior well verifying that the capacity to develop and produce high added value core component is still insufficient. Therefore, the multi-angled strategy to cope with and prescription shall be urgently prepared by private companies, government and scientific community to develop high added value core components.
