Abstract
In this study, we investigate the effect of advanced cognitive test score on earnings by using the Korea National Scholastic Test score for University Entrance (KNSAT). In investigating the effect, two pathways are examined: the effect at the beginning of career and the effect across career. There are two main findings. First, the test score does affect earnings at the beginning of career across all test score groups. Second, in contrast with previous studies, the effect of the latter is only significantly positive at the highest test group. This finding implies that a worker with the highest KNSAT score does have an advantage in improving firm-specific human capital relative to a worker with a low KNSAT score with experience.
