대학생의 진로도구준비 유형 분석: 잠재계층분석방법(Latent Class Analysis)을 활용하여

초록

본 연구는 대학생의 진로도구준비 행동을 유형화하고, 각 유형별 특징과 유형별로 구직활동에 차이가 있는지 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 먼저, 진로도구준비 행동을 묻는 문항들에 대한 응답패턴에 따라 대학생의 진로도구준비 행동이 몇 개의 최적화된 유형(잠재계층)으로 분류될 수 있는지 탐색하였다. 다음으로, 개인배경, 진로성숙도, 구직관련 활동 등 관련 변인들이 유형분류에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았으며, 마지막으로 분류된 유형에 따라 실제 구직활동에 차이가 있는지를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 한국고용정보원의 2014년 청년패널조사(Youth Panel) 8차년도 대학생 362명의 자료를 사용하여 잠재계층분석(Latent Class Analysis)을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 대학생 진로도구준비 행동은 응답패턴에 따라 추가형(well-equipped type), 기본형(basic-equipped type), 미비형(ill-equipped type)의 3가지 유형으로 분류되었다. 다음으로, R-3STEP방식을 이용한 분석 결과, 성별, 학교성적, 진로관심, 진로지도 및 상담경험 등의 변인들이 유형분류에 영향을 미쳤다. 특히, 학교성적이 높은 학생은 미비형 집단보다는 추가형 집단, 진로지도와 상담경험이 있는 학생은 기본형 집단보다는 추가형 집단에 속할 가능성이 높았다. 끝으로, 분류된 집단별로 실제 구직활동 여부를 비교한 결과, 추가형 집단이 미비형 집단보다 구직활동을 할 가능성이 높았다. 이러한 본 연구의 결과를 토대로 대학생 집단별 진로도구준비 행동 유형을 고려한 맞춤형 진로지원 프로그램 개발이 필요함을 제언하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify latent classes in career tools preparation behaviors of college students and to test its relationship with job-seeking activities and individual backgrounds on determining latent classes. To accomplish the research purposes, latent class analysis was conducted with the Youth Panel (YP) data. Results showed that there were three types of latent classes in career preparation behaviors: ‘well-equipped type’, ‘basic-equipped type’, ‘ill-equipped type’ for career tools preparation. Next, through the analysis of the relevance of the classification groups and related variables, the variables affecting group classification according to the career preparation behavior tools were gender and career guidance and counseling experience. With regard to gender, female college students are more likely to belong to the well-equipped type than ‘half-equipped type’ and ‘ill-equipped type’ groups, and students with career guidance and counseling experience were more likely to belong to the well-equipped type, rather than the other two type groups. Finally, the results of comparing whether the actual job search activity differs by classified groups, as for career tools preparation, the well-equipped type group is more likely to do job search activity than ill-equipped type group. When these findings are taken together, it appeared that female college students are more preparing career-related tools than male college students and actually more active in looking for job. The findings of the study could be utilized as preliminary materials for guiding career preparation of youth, especially for college students. Given these results, three types of career preparation behaviors were suggested, and customized support programs and policies for each type were also suggested. Based on the results, limitation of the study and future study were also discussed.
