宜寧南氏 南基拓 寄贈本의 現況과 特徵

Abstract

This study examines the characteristics and status of the collection donated by Nam Gi-cheok of the Uiryeong Nam clan to the Jangseogak Archives. Nam Gi-cheok’s collection is notable as the first donation received by the Jangseogak Archives. It consists of a total of 851 old books across 78 types. The collection was initially donated to the Cultural Heritage Administration in September 1980 and was later transferred to the Academy of Korean Studies in July 1981. The largest portion of the collection comprises works published during the Japanese colonial era, alongside numerous collections of literary works, Confucian texts, and biographies. Most of the books are printed using woodblocks and wood type, but there are also examples in metal type such as Musinja, Hanguja, and Jeongyuja. A notable feature of the collection is the book ownership seal, “宜南之 信.” Key items in the collection include the oldest edition of the Supplement to the Outlines and Details of the Comprehensive Mirror to Aid in Government (續資治通鑑綱目), a royally bestowed copy of the Notes and Queries on the Complete Compendium of Master Zhu’s Works (朱子大全箚疑), the Collected Annotations of Changes of Zhou (周易傳義大全) previously owned by Kim Hui, who served as the Right State Councilor, and a Jeongyuja-printed edition of the Collected Annotations of the Analects (論語集註大全).
