Abstract
Time spent in childhood affects multiple aspects of adolescent development. This study examines changes in impact of parents’ behavior(child care, watching TV) and socioeconomic status on school-age children’s TV watching time using Korea Time Use Survey(2004, 2009, 2014) data form Korea Statistics. Tobit model analysis shows that parents' behavior(child care and watching TV) reduce influence on their children's TV watching time because parents of decreasing amount of time spent with family(parents-children). While the influence of father's income is larger, whereas the influence of mother’s education level is disappear to school-age children’s TV watching time that give implication about growing economic role in child care. This study shows that it is necessary to increase family sharing time through time policy considering various classes in order to strengthen the role of family. And It also suggests that policies are needed to mitigate economic constraints on children's time use.
