조선통신사란 조선시대 조선에서 일본의 막부(幕府)장군에게 파견되었던 공식적인 외교사절을 말한다. 약 200여년 동안 12회에 걸쳐 일본에 외교 사절단을 파견하여 양국 간 평화 관계와 문화교류에 큰 역할을 담당하였다. 사절단을 태우고 조선과 일본으로 건너 갈 수 있도록 징검다리 역할에 사용된 선박을 통틀어 ‘통신사선’이라 한다. ‘통신사선’은 당시 최고의 기술이 집약된 선박이다. 본고에서는 조선통신사 정사기선을 복원하기 위한 학술적 연구를 통해 찾은 구조, 수중발굴 고선박과 문헌에서 나타나는 선형, 조선공학적 분석, 제작 등을 통해 기선의 원형모습을 밝혀낸 연구 결과를 개괄적으로 정리하여 기술하고자한다.
Abstract
Joseon Tongsinsa is an official diplomatic envoy who was sent to General Bakufu of Japan during the Joseon Dynasty. It has played a major role in peace and cultural exchanges between the two countries by sending diplomatic missions to Japan 12 times over 200 years. All ships used to play the role of the stepping stone to carry delegations to Joseon and Japan are called “Tongsinsa Ship.” The ‘Tongsinsa Ship’ is a vessel of the best technology at the time. The manuscript plans to summarize the prototype model of the ship through an academic study to restore the Jeongsa Ship of the Joseon Dynasty, the linearity, the engineering analysis, and the production of the ship.
