외국인 유학생 교양교육과정 개발을 위한 선행연구 고찰

본 논문의 연구 목적은 외국인 대상 교양교육과정 개발을 위한 기초 단계로 외국인 학습자 특성과 요구를 분석하고 교양교육과정에서 핵심적으로 다루어야 할 주제를 선정하는데 있다. 연구 방법은 실태조사와 교육과정 두 가지 주제를 중심으로 선행연구를 분석했으며, 분석 결과를 바탕으로 네 개 대학 교양교육과정의 사례도 비교 검토하였다. 외국인 학습자의 요구도가 큰 항목은 언어장벽, 문화 차이로 인한 적응의 어려움, 학업 기초 지식의 부족이며 이에 따른 교양교육과정의 핵심 주제를 학문 목적 한국어, 문화 이해, 학업 수행, 대학 적응 네 가지로 정리했다. 네 개 대학 교양교육과정 사례 분석을 통해 외국인 대상 교양교육과정은 여전히 한국어 과목의 비중이 크다는 것을 발견하였다. 후속 연구에서는 교양교육과정의 네 가지 핵심주제를 반영한 교양교육과정을 개발하고자 한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics and needs of foreign learners and select the core topics to be covered in the liberal arts curriculum as a basic step for developing a liberal arts curriculum for foreigners. The research method was to analyze previous studies focusing on two topics: actual situation survey and curriculum. Based on the analysis results, the cases of liberal arts curriculums at four universities were also compared and reviewed. The items that foreign learners demand the most were language barriers, difficulties in adapting due to cultural differences, and lack of basic academic knowledge. Accordingly, the core topics of the liberal arts curriculum were organized into four: Korean for academic purposes, cultural understanding, academic performance, and university adaptation. Through the analysis of the cases of liberal arts curriculums at four universities, it was found that the liberal arts curriculum for foreigners still has a large proportion of Korean subjects. In follow-up research, we plan to develop a liberal arts curriculum that reflects the four core topics of the liberal arts curriculum.
