초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between exercises, severity of disability, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL) among Korean people with physical disabilities. This study used national data from the 2017 National Survey of Disabled People which included 3,032 people with physical disabilities. Exercise participation and HRQOL (EQ-5d) were self-reported. Compared with none exercise group, the odds ratios for mobility, usual activities, pain/discomfort, and anxiety/depression in the group who engage in exercise at least once a week were 1.70 (95% CI 1.15-2.50), 1.60 (95% CI 1.10-2.40), 1.60 (95% CI 1.10-2.40), and 1.73 (95%CI 1.20-2.50) in severe, and 1.50 (95% CI 1.25-1.80), 1.52 (95% CI 1.28-1.81), 1.13 (95% CI 1.03-1.35) and 1.30 (95% CI 1.10-1.60) in mild after adjusting for confounding variables. This study underscores the significant impact of exercise, even at a minimal frequency (1 day/week), on improving HRQOL among Korean people with physical disabilities.
