초록

This study explores the association between physical activity (PA) and depressive symptoms among Koreans with physical disabilities. Utilizing data from the 2020 Disability and Life Dynamics Panel, the research involved 734 adults, examining their levels of PA against depressive symptoms, measured by the CESD-11 scale. Results indicate a clear benefit of PA, with any engagement in PA correlating with fewer depressive symptoms. Specifically, both insufficient and sufficient PA levels according to WHO guidelines significantly lowered the risk of depression among males, and sufficient PA did the same for females. These findings highlight the crucial role of PA in improving mental health outcomes for people with physical disabilities, suggesting that even below-recommended levels of PA can offer significant mental health benefits. This underscores the need for inclusive policies and programs that encourage PA as part of comprehensive care for this population.
