Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of conceptualization and practice of dance therapy theory based on the expressive therapies continuum (ETC), a theory of expressive arts therapy. The ETC theory is a systematic approach model based on brain construction, developmental theory, and neuroscience that can be usefully applied to artistic psychotherapy in various fields. Although it started from the field of art therapy, it has an unity that can be used in other fields of arts therapy, and is useful for conceptualizing the therapeutic factors of artistic expression. Therefore, based on various dance/movement therapy-related studies and literature, concepts and methodologies of dance therapy were reorganized to various levels of ETC, and in the future, it was intended to lay the foundation for systematic and effective ETC application dance therapy. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that various theoretical contexts and therapeutic factors of dance therapy were linked and consistent with the components and levels of ETC, and the possibility of composition of dance therapy and treatment program applying ETC theory was also found. . As a future study, the researcher propose a topic on the practical clinical and application of ETC-based dance therapy, and its effectiveness. It is hoped that this study will be helpful in consolidating the academic identity of dance therapy.
