광주지역 축제 속의 무용공연 흐름 및 변화분석: 광주 프린지 페스티벌을 중심으로

Abstract

A festival is the most popular and universal kind of event and is enjoyed by many people. It is a way to share cultural and artistic heritage by connecting traditions and performing arts. By fusing customs and performing arts, festivals are a way to share cultural and creative legacy. Through them, the audience is given an indirect introduction to the traditional and aesthetic features of their region, with the objective to impress them and lead to them to engage more with their cultural heritage and the artistic scene. In various aspects, festivals are taking a new direction today as they follow trends that are profoundly changing the performing arts. Based on the demand, performing arts organisations need to consider changes in festivals settings and range of offers through accurate analysis of the audience expectations. Thus, by examining the trend and change of performing arts at local festivals, this study suggest ways to revitalize dance performances. In this study, different genres of the Fringe Festival in Gwangju City, which serves as the local performing arts festival in Gwangju, are investigated. This report is produced with a focus on the performing arts to serve as a document to track changes and advancements in the performing arts across time. This study, which focuses on analysing items between 2018 and 2022, lacks information on "The Gwangju Fringe Festival," which was held by a private organisation in 2016 and 2017. The findings indicate that performing arts will incorporate a number of experimental platforms in the future, including online filming for festive stages, plazas, and unattended events as well as a range of experimental and pure dance, practical dance, and dance sports. It also highlights the effort that goes into organising a variety of professional performing art events through genre-based collaboration as audiences shift.
