본 연구는 김필수(金弼秀) 목사의 설교문 “球上無比의 紀念”을 통해 그의 성찬예식에 대한 관점을 분석하는 데 목적을 둔다. 그는 누가복음 22장 19절과 고린도전서 11장 22절로부터 24절까지의 말씀을 설교 본문으로 정하여 이 글을 작성했다. 김필수의 성찬예식에 대한 논점은 단지 “球上無比의 紀念”을 통해서 알 수 있고, 이 글은 1922년에 발행된 『宗敎界 諸名士 講演集』에 게재되어 있다. 김필수의 성찬관에 나타난 중요한 개념들을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 성찬예식이 갖는 고유한 상징성이 무엇인지에 대하여 고찰했으며, 그 내용들로서 ① 예수 그리스도의 무죄성과 선민을 위한 대속, ② 하나의 교회(교회의 보편성)로서의 참 정체성, ③ 성찬예식에서의 접속사 ‘그러므로’(οὖν: “그러므로 주님의 은혜에 보답하기를 원합니다!”)의 구도가 갖는 교훈점 등에 대해서 논했다. 둘째, 성찬예식의 실천적 함의에 대하여 살폈으며 ① 하나님 앞에서의 온전한 회개, ② 주 예수 그리스도를 위한 순교적인 삶, ③ 이타적이며 헌신적인 삶 등에 주안점을 두었다. 이 연구에 부연하여, 본 연구자는 추후 김필수 목사와 관련된 연구가 더욱 확장되어 이 주제 외에도 ‘YMCA 청년운동’, ‘사회운동과 계몽운동’, ‘목회윤리에 대한 관점’, ‘그의 출판 활동’ 등 여러 연구로 외연(外延)될 수 있기를 기대한다.
Abstract
This research aims to analyze Rev. Pil-Su Kim’s ‘the view of Christian Eucharist’ in his sermon “The Greatest Commemoration”. This text is based on Luke 22:19 and 1Corinthians 11:22-24. Kim’s view of Christian Eucharist is based solely on his work “The Greatest Commemoration” published in Jonggyogyeoi Jemyeongsa Gangyeonjip(1922). The important concepts of Pil-Su Kim’s ‘the view of Christian Eucharist’ could be summarized as follows: First, I attempted to explain the basic symbolism of Christian Eucharist such as ① the innocence of Jesus Christ and His atonement for the chosen people, ② the true identity of one church(the universality of the church), ③ the lessons of the conjunction ‘therefore’(οὖν: “Therefore I want to return Your grace!”), and so on. Second, I focused on practical implication of Christian Eucharist such as ① perfect repentance in the presence of God, ② the life of martyrdom for the Lord Jesus Christ, ③ the altruistic and sacrificial life for others, and so forth. In addition, I suggest future extensions of this research into Pil-Su Kim’s other themes such as ‘the youth movement of YMCA’, ‘social movement and enlightenment movement’, ‘the view of pastoral ethics’, ‘publishing activities’, and so on.
