본 연구는 현재 한국교회에서 수행되는 성찬이 사회적 의례로서 기능하고 있는지 를 살펴보았다. 그리고 성찬이 사회적 기능을 회복할 수 있는 방안을 모색하고자 하 였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 성찬에 대한 질적 연구방법을 사용하였다. 연구범위는 서 울에 위치한 중형교회(교인 수 300-1000 명)로 제한하였다. 민족지적 인터뷰의 연구 대상자는 서울에 있는 중형교회에 출석하는 다섯 명의 기독교인으로 선정하였고, 관 찰 연구 대상은 연구대상자들이 속한 교회 중 성찬에 대한 관찰을 허락한 두 교회로 선정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 다음과 같은 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 첫째, 성찬의 횟수는 기독 교인의 성찬에 대한 이해와 경험과 연관된다. 둘째, 성찬은 예배와 일체되지 못하고 있다. 그리고 성찬은 절기와 상관없이 동일한 방식으로 수행되고 있다. 셋째, 참가자 들이 알고 있는 성찬에 대한 이미지는 ‘예수 그리스도의 희생과 구원’과 관련된 이미 지로 한정되어 있다. 넷째, 성찬에 대한 이해의 부족과 깊이 있는 경험의 부재는 성 찬에 기대감 없이 수동적으로 참여하게 만든다. 이러한 성찬 경험은 변화된 삶으로 이끌어가지 못한다. 이런 연구 결과를 바탕으로 한국교회 성찬의 변화를 위해 다음과 같이 제언하고자 한다. 첫째, 성찬에 대한 교육이 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 예배와 성 찬의 일체되어야 한다. 셋째, 절기에 따라 성찬 수행 방식이 변화되도록 시도해 보아 야 한다. 넷째, 성찬의 횟수에 대해 고려해 보아야 한다. 성찬은 기독교의 성례전이자 사회적 의례이다. 한국교회에서 성찬의 교육이 이루 어지고, 성찬과 설교 더 나아가 성찬과 예배가 일체되고, 절기에 따라 성찬의 다양한 이미지 중 절기의 의미를 부각시킬 수 있는 성찬이 수행되어 기독교인으로 하여금 성찬에 대한 이해와 성찬에 대한 깊이 있는 경험을 하게 함으로써, 성찬을 통해 삶 이 변화될 수 있기를 바란다. 그렇게 성찬의 변화를 통해 성찬이 사회적 의례로서의 기능을 온전히 발현하여, 한국교회로 하여금 기독교의 가치로 사회를 변화시키는 대 안공동체로 자리할 수 있길 기대해본다.
Abstract
This study examines whether the sacrament, which is currently performed in Korean churches, functions as a social ritual. And this study tried to find a way to restore the social function of the Eucharist. For this purpose, this study used a qualitative research method on the sacrament. The scope of this study was limited to medium-sized churches (300-1000 members) located in Seoul. In this study, the study participants of the ethnographic interview were five Christians attending a medium-sized church in Seoul. In this study, two churches were selected as the study subjects of observational study. Among the churches to which the study participants belonged, these churches allowed observation of the Eucharist. The following facts were confirmed through this study. First, the number of sacraments is related to the Christian's understanding and experience of the sacraments. Second, the sacrament is not united with worship. And the Lord's Supper is performed in the same way regardless of the season. Third, the image of the Eucharist that the participants know is limited to the 'Sacrifice and Salvation of Jesus Christ'. Fourth, the lack of understanding of the sacrament and the absence of in-depth experience makes the communion participants passively participate without expectation of the sacrament. This sacramental experience does not produce a changed life. Based on the results of this study, this study proposes the following for the change of the sacrament of the Korean church. First, education on the Lord's Supper should be provided in the Korean church. Second, worship and the Lord's Supper must be united. Third, the Korean church should try to change the way the sacrament is performed according to the seasons. Fourth, the Korean church should consider the number of communion. This study hopes that the Eucharist can fully express its function as a social ritual through change and try. So, I hope that the Korean church will be able to establish itself as an alternative community that changes society with the values of Christianity.
