한국장로교회 초기 직분론 고찰: 1891년∼1934년까지의 헌법 변천을 중심으로

본 연구에서는 한국장로교회의 초기 직분론을 살펴보고 오늘 한국교회에 주는 교훈과 대안을 제시하려고 한다. 한국장로교회의 직분론을 추적하면 선교사들의 한국도착 순서와도 관련이 있는데 미국북장로교회선교회 규범과 세칙(1891)으로부터 선교사공의회, 합동 공의회, 조선독노회, 조선예수교장로회 총회, 찰스 하지 교회 정치문답조례(1917), 1922년 헌법, 1929년 헌법, 1934년 헌법까지로 나눌 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 초기 한국장로교회의 직분론을 9개의 분류로 나누고 그 특징과 영향, 의미를 살펴볼 것이다. 한국장로교회는 초기 선교를 주도했던 미국 북장로교회의 네비우스 선교정책의 영향을 받았다. 그러나 미국 북장로교회가 각국 선교부를 포괄하는 정책을 펼치면서 직분론은 일관성을 유지하기보다는 보완적인 성격을 띄게 되었고, 특히 목사직에 대한 이해와 진술에 있어 현장과 헌법은 상이점을 해소하지 못했다. 본 연구를 통해 한국장로교회에 제출하는 제안은 항존직을 목사, 장로, 집사의 3종으로 설명하고 목사직과 장로직의 차이점을 분명히 서술해야 한다. 또한 서리제도와 원로제도, 명예제도를 정비하고 여성사역자에 대한 범위와 권한을 기술할 필요가 있다. 1922년의 헌법에 관여한 곽안련은 찰스 하지의 교회정치문답조례를 따르지 않고 미국남장로교회의 헌법을 도입함으로써 미국북장로교회가 이미 현장에 적용했던 헌법과 상이성을 해소하지 못했다. 이 부분에 대해 한국장로교회헌법 100년을 맞는 시점에서 분석과 성찰이 진행되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
In this study, we will examine the Office Doctrine of the Korean Presbyterian Church and present lessons and alternatives to the Korean church today. Tracking the Office Doctrine of the Korean Presbyterian Church is also related to the order of missionaries' arrival in Korea, which can be divided into the North Presbyterian Church's norms and regulations (1891) to the 1934 Constitution. The Korean Presbyterian Church was influenced by the Nebius missionary policy of the Northern Presbyterian Church in the United States, which led missionary work in the early days. However, with policies covering missionaries in each country, the theory of Office Doctrine has become complementary rather than consistent, and in particular, the field and the constitution have not resolved differences in understanding and statements about pastor positions. The proposal to submit to the Korean Presbyterian Church through this study should explain the three types of permanent posts: pastor, elder, and deacon, and clearly describe the difference between pastor and elder logic. In addition, it is necessary to reorganize the frost system, senior system, and honor system, and to describe the scope and authority of female ministers. Kwak An-ryeon, who was involved in the 1922 Constitution, did not follow Charles Hodge's ’What is Presbyterian Law as Defined by the church Courts?’ and introduced the constitution of the American Presbyterian Church, failing to resolve the difference from the constitution that the Northern Presbyterian Church had already applied to the field. In this regard, analysis and reflection should be conducted at the time of the 100th anniversary of the Korean Presbyterian Church Constitution.
