A Comparative Study of Experiment-Related Anxiety Between Chemistry Teachers and Pre-Service Chemistry Teachers

본 연구는 화학교사와 예비 화학교사의 실험 관련 불안을 비교하고, 배경 변인이 실험 관련 불안에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 화학교사 102명과 예비 화학교사 72명에게 과학실험 불안 관련 설문조사를 실시하였고, 성별에 따른 응답 결과의 차이를 구체적으로 해석하기 위해 심층 면담을 진행하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 화학교사는 예비 화학교사에 비해 실험 관련 불안 및 화학물질 사용에 대한 불안이 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 화학교사는 여교사가 남교사보다 실험 관련 불안이 높게 나타났으나, 예비 화학교사에서는 성별에 따른 차이가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 화학교사의 학교급과 교육 경력에 따른 실험 관련 불안은 차이가 없었다.
Abstract
This study compares the levels of experiment-related anxiety between chemistry teachers and pre-service chemistry teachers. It also analyzes the impact of background variables on their anxiety. A survey assessing science experiment-related anxiety was conducted with 102 chemistry teachers and 72 pre-service chemistry teachers. To interpret gender-based differences in responses more specially, in-depth interviews were conducted. The findings are as follows: First, chemistry teachers reported higher levels of experiment-related anxiety and anxiety regarding the use of chemicals compared to pre-service chemistry teachers. Second, among chemistry teachers, female teachers experienced higher levels of experiment-related anxiety than their male counterparts, while no significant gender differences were observed among pre-service chemistry teachers. Third, the experiment-related anxiety of chemistry teachers did not vary significantly based on school level or teaching experience.
