초록
Justice focused on human sinfulness is contrasted with pastoral care focused on resources of grace. In regard to justice as power balance, pastoral care and counseling bears the nature of justice by yielding its power for counselees to speak out through an empathic listening. Therefore, personal empowerment through pastoral care can become holistic when justice is done in society surrounding the patient or victim. Justice gives an ideal direction to pastoral care while pastoral care offers individual perspectives to social justice. Justice includes individual love while pastoral care embraces critical hermeneutics of power in society. Care and justice have a common divine root in which the righteous God seeks redemptive justice among human beings. In depression, for instance, power imbalance is clear when the depressed people are not allowed to talk freely in living situations. Deprivation of childhood attachment by an inappropriate parenting enforces power against the person since childhood can be compensated when the counselor takes sides of the patient by letting him or her to speak up in the face of the counterpart. Addiction to social network service as a result of power imbalance can also be corrected by the counselor who has a deep understanding of the person``s suffering and need. Therefore, pastoral caregiver is a moral actor and the interpreter of situations full of complicated power dynamics. Both pastoral and practical theology require critical interpretation of specific human experiences full of individual, economic, and social injustice. Then, care of individuals with encouragement and that of society with justice can keep the balance properly.
Abstract
Justice focused on human sinfulness is contrasted with pastoral care focused on resources of grace. In regard to justice as power balance, pastoral care and counseling bears the nature of justice by yielding its power for counselees to speak out through an empathic listening. Therefore, personal empowerment through pastoral care can become holistic when justice is done in society surrounding the patient or victim. Justice includes individual love while pastoral care embraces critical hermeneutics of power in society. Care and justice have a common divine root in which the righteous God seeks redemptive justice among human beings.
