초록

It is for the purpose of enlarging the relational paradigm of emotion that the sociality of emotion is discussed in this article. The author notices that pastoral counsellors will not be able to care his/her client adequately, if human emotion is understood simply as an entity that is privately experienced. Pastoral counsellors should be aware that emotion is an essential part of culture and may have influence upon political, economical, and social selection and decision-making. Every society has its unique culture of emotions which is transmitted, through plot and rules of emotions, from generation to generation. And each member of society should control and manage his/her emotions if one he expects to acquire more economic, cultural, social, and symbolic capitals. Political leaders may control and manipulate the emotion of the people that they dominates, and also the collective emotion may brings about political change and power shift. When the sociality of emotion is applied to pastoral counselling, the problem of discrimination must be discussed. Most psychological and emotional problems that minorities such as foreign immigrants, women, the disabled, the poor and the elderly people suffer are caused by social discrimination, and the remedy is to recover justice by means of redistribution and recognition. The counsellor should perform‘Deconstructive Listening’ to the voices of ignorances and insults that his/her client has experienced, and make him/her aware of the discrimination and injustice, and then release his/her anger and frustration which he/she was prohibited to express. This may be an political act of resistance against unjust social structure, and will contribute to bring forth fair and just redistribution system by joining emotional solidarity. Through this act, pastoral counselling may participate in the fulfillment of the prophetic caring and God’s justice.
