칭의론은 그것에 따라 교회가 서기도 하고 넘어지기도 하는 (articulus stantis et cadentis ecclesiae) 기독교 신앙의 본질적인 핵심을 이루는 교리이다. 본래 종교개혁자들이 강조한 오직 믿음 (sola fide)으로만 의롭게 된다는 이신칭의의 가르침은 결코 믿음과 삶을 분리함이 없는 신행일치의 유기적인 구원론의 가르침이었다. 그런데도 오늘날 한국교회는 세속적 성공주의와 잘못된 기복주의로 말미암아 변질된 이신칭의론을 가르쳐서 신앙과 행위에 불균형을 초래하였다. 이러한 왜곡된 구원론은 윤리적인 타락으로 이어지고 결국 한국교회는 사회로부터 신뢰를 잃어버리고 하나님 나라 증인으로서의 본래 역할을 감당하는데 큰 장애를 마주하게 되었다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 문제의식을 느끼고 종교개혁 당시 이신칭의 교리와 함께 이웃사랑 윤리를 유기적으로 하나의 통 일체로 가르친 마르틴 부써(1491~1551)의 칭의론을 살펴본다. 본 연구는 일차적으로 부써의 칭의론을 이중칭의론이라고 할 때 어떤 의미인가? 라는 질문에 대해 답해 보고자 한다. 레겐스부르크 합의문에 반영된 칭의론을 살핀 후, 안토니 레인(Anthony Lane)의 분석에 근거하여, 당시 다양하게 표현되었던 이중칭의론에 대한 세 가지 개념들을 제시하고, 부써의 칭의론과의 관계를 분석한다. 이어서 로마서 주석(1536)과 후기 작품에 나타난바, 부써의 칭의론의 핵심 개념들을 제시한 후, 이와 같은 칭의 이해가 그의 첫 작품인 『삶, 나 아닌 남을 위하여』 (Das ym selbs niemant..., 1523) 에 그대로 담겨있음을 드러내고 결론적으로 칭의 된 교회는 하나님의 창조질서 회복 공동체로서 이웃사랑의 실천공동체로 거듭나야 할 것을 강조한다.
Abstract
Justification is the essential doctrine of Christian faith, by which the Church stands or falls. The teaching of justification by faith only, stressed by all the Reformers originally was a unifying doctrine between faith and work that was never separated from holy Christian life. Nevertheless, having influenced by the prosperity theology which seeks only the success of the earthly life, our current church teaching on justification tends to loose the balance between faith and life. As a result, this unbalanced teaching on justification leads to ethical degradation of the Korean church and that it looses the respect from the society. This situation hinders the main mission of witnessing the Kingdom of God by the church in society. With a deep concern for this situation, this study examines the teaching of Martin Bucer(1491-1551) on justification, characterized by the integration between faith and work. The primary question that this paper tries to answer is: what does it mean when we say Bucer’s view as “the double justification”? To answer this question, this paper looks into the final version of Regensburg Article 5. Based on Anthony Lane’s analysis, three definitions of “double justification” are presented and dealt them in relation with Bucer’s view. Then presenting key concepts of Bucer’s teaching on justification, this paper seeks to relate it to his teaching of living for others, found in Instruction in Christian Love [1523]. In conclusion, based on the Reformer’s vision for the Christian practice of true love of God, this study stresses once again the need for the renewal of Korean church to be the community of love for God and neighbors.
