18세기 미국의 대각성 운동은 미국만이 아니고 전 세계에 영적 부흥 운동으로 교회사에 매우 중요한 사건이요 역사라고 할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 이와 같은 영적 대각성운동 중에 아직 영적, 인지적으로 미성숙한 어린이들에 관심을 가진 호레이스 부쉬넬 은 가정을 통한 신앙교육을 주장하였다. 대각성운동이 회심과 중 생에 초점을 맞추었다면 신앙교육은 감정에 호소하기 보다는 신 앙교육에 초점을 맞추었으며 회심과 중생은 시간적 혹은 사건적 인 계기뿐만 아니고 신앙가정교육을 통해서 자연스럽게 본인이 언제 회심과 중생을 하게 되었는지 모르지만 신앙을 고백함과 동 시에 크리스천이 되어감에 대한 주장을 한다. 문제는 호레이스 부쉬넬의 신학을 자유주의 혹은 진보주의 신학의 시조로 보려는 시도에 대하여 연구자는 본질이 아닌 신앙교육의 형식적 방법적 인 부분의 중요성을 교육신학적 관점으로 진단하고 소위 자유주 의적, 진보주의 신학자들의 주장하는 교육 방법적인 부분들이 개 혁주의에 특히 본 논문에서 주장하는 개혁주의생명신학의 교육 신학적 관점에서 해를 끼치지 않으며 오히려 교육 방법에 있어서 상호보완적인 역할을 해야 함을 주장한다.
Abstract
The Great Awakening in the United States in the 18th century is a spiritual revival movement not only in the United States but also in the world, and it can be said that it is a very important event and history in the history of the church. However, during this great spiritual awakening, Horace Bushnell, who was inter- ested in children who were still immature spiritually and cogni- tively, insisted on religious education through the home. If the Great Awakening Movement focused on conversion and re- generation, faith education focused on faith education rather than appealing to emotions. I don’t know if I did, but I am professing my faith and at the same time making a claim about becoming a Christian. The problem is that, with respect to the attempt to view Horace Bushnell’s theology as the progenitor of liberal or progressive theology, the researcher diagnoses the importance of the formal and methodical part of faith education, not the essence, from an educational theological point of view, and the so-called liberal and progressive theologians It is argued that the educational methods should play a complementary role in the ed- ucational method if they do not harm Reformedism, especially the Reformed Life Theology asserted in this paper.
