Abstract
The purpose of this study is to empirically verify the influences of concept-based inquiry learning, a key strategy of the 2022 Revised National Curriculum, on students' academic achievement and affective attitudes in actual classroom settings. This study involved 69 sixth-grade elementary school students (24 in the experimental group, 45 in the comparison group) and examined the changes in academic achievement, conceptual understanding and transfer ability, and affective attitudes after an 8-week intervention of concept-based inquiry learning. The results showed no statistically significant difference between groups in academic achievement, but the experimental group's results confirmed meaningful educational effects from a personal growth perspective. In the affective domain, the experimental group's interest and value domains showed statistically significant increases. In conclusion, concept-based inquiry learning is effective for improving affective attitudes and promoting individual learning growth in short-term interventions (7 weeks), but has limitations in producing between-group differences in academic achievement and developing transfer ability, suggesting the need for differentiated support for low-achieving students and strengthened explicit transfer activities.
