이 연구는 빈곤상황에서 아동의 정서적·심리적 적응에 중요한 역할을 하는 보호요인과 이에 영향을 미치는 매개변인을 탐색하고, 경제위기에서 아동의 정서적 안정에 영향을 미치는 보호요인의 조절효과를 검증할 목적으로 수행되었다. 이 연구를 위해 서울지역에 거주하는 초·중생 814명(초등생 406명, 중학생409명)을 대상으로 선정하였다. 연구결과는 빈곤아동의 보호요인인 낙관수준에 영향을 미치는 변인 중 부모에 대한 태도와 자아존중감에서 유의한 효과를 확인할 수 있었으며, 비빈곤 중간계층의 아동집단과는 달리 부모와의 관계성 변인에서는 유의성을 확인할 수 없었다. 낙관변인은 경제위기에서 심리적 안정수준과 일탈 및 비행행위에 대해 부분적 보호기능을 하는 것으로 보이며, 빈곤이라는 부정적 환경 속에서도 아동의 심리적·사회적 적응에 긍정적으로 영향을 미칠 수 있음을 시사한다.
Abstract
The purposes of the present study were to investigate the protective and mediatory factors affecting the emotional and psychological adjustment of poor children, and to examine moderating effect of protective factors that influences emotional stability of children under the economic crisis. The sample were composed of 814 students(elementary students 406, middle school students 409) in Seoul. The major findings of this study are as follows. Among the variables affecting optimistic level that is protective factors of poor children, attitudes toward parents and self-esteem were significant, but relationship with parents was not, contrary to non-poor children. The optimistic level had moderating effect on psychological stability level and delinquency conduct partially under the economic hardship. The findings suggest that optimism is an important factor to help children’s adjustment in vulnerable circumstances such as poverty.
