이 연구는 통합운영학교의 교육과정 실행에 대한 특징을 사례 연구를 통해 탐색하고, 재직 교원과의 상호작용을 통해 통합운영학교의 성공적 정착을 위한 발전 방안을 논의하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내 통합운영학교 중 세 학교를 연구 대상으로 선정하여 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 방법으로서 질적 사례 연구를 적용하였으며, 문헌 분석, 심층 면담과 참여 관찰을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과는 교육과정 운영 계획 수립, 교육과정 운영, 교수․학습 분야로 구분하여 제시하였다. 구체적으로 통합운영학교 교원들은 교육과정을 계획하고 실행하는 단계에서 교육과정 연계 운영에 대하여 전반적으로 낮은 수준의 인식을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 소수의 교원들은 교육과정 연계의 중요성을 이해하고 이를 실행하기 위해 노력하고 있었다. 이와 함께 통합운영학교 발전을 위한 지원 방안으로 학교장의 자율적 운영 보장, 법적․제도적 보완, 상급기관 관리체계의 일원화, 교원의 겸임 발령 등이 논의되었다.
Abstract
This study aims to investigate characteristics of curriculum implementation in consolidated schools through a qualitative case study and to discuss how to improve the consolidated school system with the faculty. Three consolidated schools nationwide were selected as cases in this research. A case study was adopted for research methodology, and the qualitative data were collected through relative school documents, in-depth group and personal interview, and participant observation. Results were presented in terms of curriculum management plan, curriculum implementation, and teaching and learning. Administrators and teachers showed low perception and understanding on curriculum integration among different school levels such as elementary, middle, and high school. A few teachers responded that they thought about importance of curriculum integration and strived to implement ideas on their lessons. The ideas such as principal’s independence in school management, changes in educational law, simple audit system in school district, and permission to teach for all grade levels were discussed to improve the current consolidated school system in Korea.
