남성노인의 은퇴 후 삶의 과정에 대한 근거이론적 접근- 새로운 삶의 의미를 찾아서 -

초록

본 연구는 남성 노인을 대상으로 그들의 은퇴 경험과 은퇴 후 삶의 과정에 대해서 살펴보는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위해 은퇴를 경험한 9명의 남성 노인을 대상으로 은퇴 후 생활에 대해 심층인터뷰를 하였으며, 자료 분석을 위해 근거이론적 접근방법을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 분석 결과 남성노인에게 있어서 은퇴는 ‘밀려남과 상실의 혼돈을 이겨내고 새로운 삶의 의미를 찾아 가는 과정’임을 알 수 있었다. 이들은 실직을 경계하는 사회속에서 현장에서 밀려남으로 인해 인생의 모든 것이 변화되는 격동의 시기를 경험하고, ‘밀려남과 상실에서 오는 혼돈의 단계’,‘상황을 정리하는 단계’,‘나를 다시 찾는 단계’, 그리고 ‘적극적으로 나아가는 단계’를 거치면서 은퇴라는 하나의 중요한 사건에 대응해 나가는 것으로 나타났다. 남성 노인에게 있어서 은퇴의 경험은 그들의 이전의 삶의 경험과 현재의 삶의 조건들에 의해 영향을 받고 있었다. 이에 본연구의 결과는 노인들의 은퇴후 삶의 과정에 필요한 프로그램 개발과 정책대안자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to explore experience and adaptation process of retired elderly men. For this purpose, depth interview with 9 retired elderly men who have lived retired life more than 5 years was conducted and grounded theory method was used to collect and analyze the data. As a result of analyzing data, finding was that retirement for elderly men means "overcoming the chaos of being ousted and loss and looking for the new meaning of life". After the retired elderly men were ousted from their workplace in the society, they experienced major life changes through adaptation process of retirement which has four phases - 'Chaos which come from being ousted and loss(phase 1)', 'Reorganizing the situation(phase 2)', 'Rediscovering self(phase 3)', 'Actively Moving on(phase 4). The experience of retirement for elderly men was influenced by previous experience and current situation of their life. Based on the result of this study, retirement adaptation program for retiring elderly men can be planned, developed, and implemented for retiring elderly men to improve the quality of their life. In addition, it could be applied with fundamental data of the policy preparation for the retired elderly people.
