Abstract

ꡔIllusionꡕ was a novel which had been published serially in the daily journal "Dong-A Ilbo" from November, 1922 to March, 1923. Despite the criticism of post-generation, the ꡔIllusionꡕ had gained tremendous popularity from young men and women at that time. Besides that the story was about a painful love affair which appealed to the general public at that times, the great popularity reside in that it had formed a consensus with young men's emotional aspect since it had poined out the psychologic aspect of the new-generation-women who enlightened on ego. Combined with a standing point of view of "Almost-only romatic novel" as a product of Korean modern literature and the consciousness of the magazine "Baek-ho" as representative of romanticism, the importance of the novel ꡔIllusionꡕ must be evaluated as an index of the stream of consciousness of the young men in early modern Chosun era.
