초록
While micro and small enterprises (MSEs) provide subsistence for a large number of families across the developing world, employment circumstances remain precarious with low wages and poor working conditions, and so improvements in living standards have been unimpressive. This research was conducted as a try to search why Ethiopian MSEs are hard to become more productive, profitable and bigger. To do so, the focus went to a business training system considering the insufficient internal capacity of Ethiopian MSEs. The importance of MSE capacity building was analyzed and various factors were reviewed as the capacity building interventions for MSEs. The status of a few typical Ethiopian MSE training systems was evaluated. Chronic problems hampering MSEs’ transition into bigger and stronger entities were analyzed. Based on the analyses, we believe Ethiopian capacity building interventions have room for improvement.
