Abstract

The poet Kim Jong-Cheol started from the early poetry which aimed at the critical satire of society and civilization, followed the symbol of the “nail” after the middle period, the poet of the nail who renewed his poetic world based on the Catholic world view. This paper focuses on ‘Psalm of Revelation,’ which has a special status in the world of Kim Jong-Cheol, and suggests a new perspective to view Kim Jong-Cheol’s poetic world as a universal ‘psalm of religion’. The poet Kim Jong-Chul entered the 2000s and sang the problem of self-salvation and the eternal defilement of humanity, death, through the enlightened symbol of ‘revelation’ rather than the ‘Virgin Mary’ ‘Psalms’ are travel psalms that traveled to Mount Kuwah, the Holy Land of Faith Religion, during the poet's battle with cancer. It contains a desire for the liberation of the dead and the awakening of the true being. Although the psalms of ‘Revelation’ are somewhat exceptional and seemingly minor in the previous works of Kim Jong-Cheol, in the sense that he explores the meaning of death through Buddhist ‘awakening’, his poetic world which pursued the problem of death and the ontological subject.
