Abstract
Namsan at Wondong, Wo띠u was the place where scholars spent time at Chuwoldae in the era of Chosun Dynasty and the Japanese shrine was placed in the era of thε Japanese Imperialists rule. The reason why the Japanese Imperialists moved granite building to Namsan was not known: Considering thε photograph at that time, the park with stonε-built cultural properties was thought to build up. However, nobody could disclose what kinds and how many granite pagoda and Buddhist statue were moved by the Japanesε Imperialists. And, the granite pagoda was recently known to remain at that place. Thε paper examined that the granite pagoda was moved from what place and it originally had how many stories. The paper investigated existing granite pagoda at Wonju as well as granite pagoda registered by the material published in the era of the Japanese Imperialists rule, and it selected other granite pagoda moved to Namsan to εxamine relations with the pagoda surveyed. Granite pagodas at Namsan, Wonju were placed at two places. Four pieces of the granite pagoda A stood in a line at one place east of thε top of Namsan to movε them to outdoor exhibition of Won ju Municipal Museum and to recover it on February 23, 2006. Thε granite pagodas were lain here and there so that the granite pagoda A was thought to be placed at the top of Namsan to bε buried or left alone while being collapsed. Onε piece of roof stonε of the granite pagoda B, however, was excavated at the earth of a private house. When an estimated recovery drawing of the granite pagoda A having three stories was made with remaining granite pagoda material, the roof stone of three stories was too large to be unproportional to put a subbase: And, three story granite pagoda should have a pole opening and top of the roof stone had no pole opening, so that the pagoda was much likεly to have five stories or more. The pagoda was likely to have relations with five story granite pagoda at Eupokpyung that did not idεntify location among pagoda series unidentified. f‘Jamsan was once announced publicly as a redevelopment area. The roof stone 1 was put on the roof stone 2 and flat stone on foundation stone was put under thε surface of the earth, so that remaining material was thought to bury at near place. In other words, the roof stone was not put on the surface of the earth naturally when the granite pagoda was collapsed, and the stone fell down firstly by either collapse or destruction and then some of materials were buried secondly. Therefore. before developing f、Jamsan at W onju, stone-built building that was different from remaining granite pagoda was required to investigate it precisely and to research it in advanced way.
