우주론적『노자』해석에 대한 비판 - 통행본을 중심으로 -

Abstract

It is said that the famous book by Lao-tzu entitled 「Laot-zu」 is a 'problematic' in its original author and the written year, etc. if we examine it in terms of documental archaeology in detail. This 'problematic' makes many scholars fall in love with 「Laot-zu」 researches with enthusiasm. And that makes 「Lao-tzu」 one of the most popular subjects and references in the world. But it is, in fact, very difficult to understand the author's original meaning and intent in that the style it was written is not in prose but in verse and ambiguity. So philosophers have tried to interpret and expose its genuine meanings in a frame of philosophy. According to my analysis in this thesis, there are two brilliant and valuable interpretations among these. One is cosmological terms and the other is ontological. The former has been very popular in Han Dynasty, and the latter has been dominant in Sui-Tang period. In my opinion, ontological terms has become more developed and advanced interpretations philosophically. There is a social movement called New Age Science(N. A. S.) in modern times which has very close relationships with cosmological interpretation of 「Lao-tzu」. Born in early 20th century, it supposes microphysics as its fundamental philosophical frame. New Age Scientists tried to achieve social innovations by means of these scientific insights. They think the characteristics of N. A. S. have something in common with the oriental Mysticism in their origin. And their arguments are supported by many oriental people, in fact. N. A. S. think one of the most important and valuable theories in the Mysticism is Lao-tzu's cosmology. They suppose Lao-tzu and modern physics are very similar in their theoretical bases. But I don't think so. In this thesis, I tried to manifest some specific contradictory points that they imply in their process of arguments which I couldn't agree with.
