학교역사관 운영 현황 및 개선 방안 연구: 대전, 충북지역 고등학교 역사관을 중심으로

본 연구는 대전광역시와 충청북도 지역 내 학교역사관을 운영 중인 5개 고등학교의 운영 및 관리 현황을 조사하고, 이를 토대로 효과적인 학교역사관 운영을 위한 개선방안을 도출하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상 선정을 위해 1945년 8월 15일 광복 이전에 설립된 전국 고등학교의 학교역사관 조성 현황을 파악하였으며, 특히 대전광역시와 충청북도 소재 5개교를 방문하여 실태조사를 실시하였다. 각 학교의 교장 및 학교역사관 관리자와 면담을 진행하였고, 면담은 학교역사관의 운영 실태, 소장품 관리 체계, 전시 구성 및 서비스 현황 등을 중심으로 이루어졌다. 연구 결과, 대상 학교들은 시도교육청으로부터 충분한 예산 지원을 받지 못한 채 학교역사관을 자체적으로 운영함에 따라 재정적 어려움을 겪고 있었으며, 학교역사관의 전문적 관리 및 컨설팅을 제공할 수 있는 전문 인력의 부재가 핵심적인 문제점으로 확인되었다. 이러한 조사 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 학교역사관의 지속가능한 발전 방향을 제시하고, 학교역사관 운영의 체계적 관리를 위한 컨트롤타워 설립의 필요성을 주요 개선방안으로 제안하였다. 이는 학교역사관이 단순한 유물 전시공간을 넘어 교육적, 연구적 가치를 지닌 역사문화유산으로서 그 기능을 충실히 수행할 수 있도록 하는 제도적 기반이 될 것이다.
Abstract
This study investigates the operational status of school affiliated history museums in five high schools across Daejeon City and Chungcheongbuk-do, aiming to propose improvement measures. For research subject selection, the study examined museums in high schools founded before August 15, 1945, with field investigations in five institutions. Research methodology included interviews with school principals and museum managers regarding operational status, artifact management, exhibitions, and services. Findings revealed financial difficulties due to insufficient government support and an absence of professional personnel for specialized management. Based on these results, this study proposes sustainable development directions and recommends establishing a centralized control tower for systematic museum management, providing an institutional foundation for these spaces to function as valuable historical and cultural heritage with educational and research significance.
