Abstract

The purpose of his study is to investigate the role of editors in Chinese publishing and to look for ways to cultivate desirable editors based on this. There are three types of roles that Chinese editors perform, which are named as 'developers', 'propagators', and 'sharers'. Chinese editorial editors are required to have two qualities. They are mental and technical aspect. First, the mental qualities include: intense responsibilities. richness of noble cultural sensitivity, careful psychological status, and ethical awareness of job performance. The technical qualities that the editors should have are: possessing various editing knowledge, expertise acquired through systematic training course, good writing ability, and professional ability to edit publishing. The limitations of content and editing technology in Chinese publishing industry such as lack of contents and overlapping contents, lack of technological innovation, deterioration of editing quality, errors in excessive editing process, inadequacy of printing instructions, etc. are expected to be resolved through the process of nurturing a publishing editor who has a high degree of enthusiasm and responsibility for professionalism and editorial work acquired through formal education.
