초록
This study was performed to evaluate the applicability of chemical identification methods, including gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and solid-phase microextraction (SPME) technique coupled with GC/MS, for soybeans gamma-irradiated at various doses ranging from 0.25 to 5 kGy. The thermoluminescence (TL) analysis, which is a formal physical identification method of irradiation treatment for soybeans, revealed that judgement on irradiation treatment was correctly made for soybean samples irradiated at higher than 0.25 kGy. However, judgement through this method could fail when the food was washed, heated, or exposed to light energy including visible and ultraviolet radiation. As alternative methods, chemical identification methods were applied by analyzing unique radiolytic compounds in irradiated food. Similar to the TL analysis results, all of the samples irradiated at ≥0.25 kGy were clearly identified as irradiated by the GC/MS analysis. Moreover, SPME-GC/MS analysis could be applied to identify gamma-irradiated soybeans at higher than 0.25 kGy, implying that the new method will attract more attention. This is because it is a easy and rapid identification method that does not use organic solvents to extract detection markers from irradiated food.
