초록
This study evaluated the applicability of electron spin resonance (ESR), photostimulatedluminescence (PSL), and thermoluminescence (TL) methods to identify strawberriesirradiated at various doses (0.15, 0.4, 0.6, and 1 kGy) with gamma-rays, electron beams (e-beams),and X-rays, respectively. ESR analysis was found not to be a reliable indicator for irradiationidentification because, for all of the irradiated strawberries, there was no specific signal of freeradicals derived from cellulose by irradiation treatment within a 6 mT range. PSL analysisdistinguished irradiated samples from non-irradiated ones. The minimum identification dose was observed to be 0.4 kGy for e-beams and 1 kGy for X-rays, whereas it was not possible to identify all gamma-irradiated samples. However, TL analysis provided clear verification of irradiation treatment for all irradiated samples at higher than 0.4 kGy, regardless of radiation types. Furthermore, after the storage at 15℃ for 9 days, the TL ratios (TL1/TL2) for the irradiated samples at ≥0.4 kGy were higher than 0.1, which is the standard value for judgement of irradiation treatment. These results indicate that TL analysis is the most suitable identification method for strawberries irradiated at ≤1 kGy with a phytosanitary purpose.
