본 연구는 가톨릭 청년 사목을 중심 사례로, 교회의 언어가 메시지→규범→구조(기본값, 공간, 예산)→기억(문서화, 정례화)의 연쇄를 통해 청년의 일상적 생태실천으로 번역되고 안정화되는 과정을 가치중립적 인과 설명으로 제시한다. 사목자의 강론, 교구·본당 주보와 공지, 청년회 안내·오리엔테이션 자료, 사진, SNS, 운영 문서 등 공개 자료를 시간순으로 과정추적하고, 텍스트와 현장 단서(표지, 동선, 구매 내역)를 교차 확인하여 ‘말–규칙–배치–기억’의 연결을 재구성하였다. 또한 사제 인사발령 전후 ±90일 비교와 전례 주기 종료 T+3 잔존 점검을 도입하여, 메시지의 반복과 구조의 지속이 함께 관찰될 때 실천이 행사성 동원을 넘어 상시적 습관으로 전환됨을 확인했다. 아울러 청년기의 높은 이동성·리더 교체 주기를 맥락 변수로 고려하여, 디지털 기록(학습 아카이브)이 기억의 길이를, 본당–학교–지자체–시민단체의 느슨한 연계가 내부 피로의 완충을 담당하는 조절 변수로 작동함을 보였다. 선택효과, 사목자와 지도자의 카리스마, 전례 효과, 가시성 편향을 대안 설명으로 점검하였다. 결론적으로 교회의 언어가 사회적 실천과 복음화로서의 기능을 하려면 개인의 열정과 도덕적 설득만으로는 충분치 않으며, 청년 사목 맥락에서 작은 기본값(defaults)과 공개된 기억 장치가 결합될 때 실천이 예측 가능하게 유지된다. 본 연구는 종교적 의미를 행위자의 의미 자원으로 다루고, 측정 가능한 지표로 조작화함으로써 종교와 공익적 행동의 연결을 선언이 아닌 운영 설계 차원에서 해명한다.
Abstract
This study examines how Catholic youth translate church messages into everyday ecological practices through a message → norms → structure (defaults, space, budget) → memory (documentation, routinization)sequence. Using publicly available parish records (sermons, bulletins, notices, photos, SNS, and administrative files), we conduct process tracing and triangulate textual and on-site evidence (signage, flows, purchase logs) to reconstruct the linkage among “message–rules–arrangements–memory.” We operationalize persistence with an event window (±90 days around clergy reassignment) and a T+3 check (three months after liturgical campaigns). Findings show that practices move beyond episodic mobilization only when repeated messages co-occur with structural persistence(codified defaults and visible arrangements), while digital archiving and external partnerships function as moderators extending organizational memory and buffering internal fatigue. We probe selection, leadership/seasonal effects, and visibility bias as alternative explanations. The study treats magisterial texts as meaning resources for actors and proposes measurable indicators, offering a value-neutral, causal account of how religion forms and sustains public-minded behavior not by exhortation alone but via operational design.
