토마스 헤더윅의 작품에 나타난 조형적 특성에 관한 연구

Abstract

(Background and Purpose) The power to drive modern society, where fusion is a hot issue, lies in creativity. This study aims to research the background and formative features of the works of Thomas Heatherwick, who has been called a modern Leonardo da Vinci. With his unique ideas, Heatherwick has displayed his abilities in various areas in the UK, garnering attention as a central figure in contemporary design. (Method) First, this study surveys modern design tendencies in the UK, which is the background for Heatherwick’s work, and analyzes his representative works. The formative features of these works are classified into three areas: formative factors, formative principles, and formative processes. (Result) A social atmosphere that moves beyond tradition and accepts innovation is the backdrop for creativity and experimentation. Heatherwick’s work has organic features, and it is classified according to the following: explicit expression with organic shape, metaphorical expression with organic properties, and contextual expression with organic relationships. In these works, volume and material are significant formative factors, with dynamics and symbolism as the formative principles and intuition driving the formative processes.
