본 연구에서는 초기 청소년이 지각하는 부정적 양육 경험과 스마트폰 과의존 간의 관계에서 공격성의 종단적 매개효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 한국 아동·청소년 패널조사(KCYPS) 2018 자료 중에서 1차(초4), 2차(초5), 3차(초6) 자료를 활용하였으며, 수집된 자료는 자기회귀교차지연모형을 적용하여 분석되었다. 분석 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 이전 시점의 부정적 양육 경험, 공격성, 스마트폰 과의존은 각각 이후 시점의 부정적 양육 경험, 공격성, 스마트폰 과의존에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 이전 시점의 부정적 양육 경험은 이후 시점의 공격성에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 이전 시점의 공격성은 이후 시점의 스마트폰 과의존에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 공격성은 부정적 양육 경험과 스마트폰 과의존 간의 관계를 종단적으로 완전매개하는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 스마트폰 과의존의 저연령화의 추세에서 초기 청소년의 스마트폰 과의존에 대한 개입과 예방 시 다양한 요인들과 상호작용하여 발생하는 스마트폰 과의존의 특성에 따라 초기 청소년들의 공격성도 함께 고려해야 할 필요가 있음을 나타낸다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 한계, 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
This study examined the longitudinal mediating effect of aggression on the relationship between early adolescents’ perceived negative parenting experience and smartphone dependency. Data were collected from 2,607 students who participated in the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2018 at three different time points (T1 = Elementary School 4th grade, T2 = 5th grade, T3 = 6th grade). The data were analyzed using an autoregressive cross-lagged model. The results were as follows. First, prior negative parenting experience, aggression, and smartphone dependency had a significant positive influence on later negative parenting experience, aggression, and smartphone dependency, respectively. Second, prior negative parenting experience had a significant positive influence on later aggression. Third, prior aggression had a significant positive influence on later smartphone dependency. Fourth, aggression showed a longitudinal complete mediating effect on the link between negative parenting experience and smartphone dependency. These findings suggest that smartphone dependency is trending toward younger ages, interventions and prevention efforts should consider early adolescent aggression as a key factor, the development of smartphone dependency is shaped by multiple interacting variables. Based on these results, the implications, limitations, and future research directions of this study are discussed.
