Abstract
In the above text, we first looked at the Guoyu(國語) and the Zuozhuan(左傳), which are sources that can examine the full extent of the ‘Cao Gonggong’s impolite behavior’ incident. Based on this, we considered from what perspective and how writers before the Han Dynasty viewed and used the same case. As long as the “Cao Gonggong's impolite behavior” incident emerged, there are seven previous writings, and each understanding and use is approximately as follows. First, in the Xunzi(荀子), Confucius records the use of disciples as an example. Second, the Lvshichunqiu(呂氏春秋) used it as an example, emphasizing the need for the monarch to politics by virtue. Third, in the Hanfeizi(한비자), ten errors that the monarch should not commit were listed and used as examples. Fourth, in the Huainanzi(淮南子), it was used as an example that it is important to prevent misfortune before it occurs while describing the success or failure of human history. Fifth, in the Shiji(史記), as it is a history book, it is faithful to the history record itself. Sixth, in Lienvzhuan(列女傳), the wise wife of Heobugi appears as the main character. Seventh, the Lunheng(論衡) uses it as an example of physiognomic claims that human destiny is revealed in appearance.
