연구 목적: 노동조합의 임금 프리미엄에 관한 사회 이론을 위협 효과(threat effect), 독점 모형(monopoly model), 의사 대표 모형(a voice institution)으로 정리하고, 이러한 이론들이 노동조합이 없는 직장에서 일하는 장애인(무조합원), 노동조합이 있으나 가입하지 않은 장애인(비조합원), 노동조합에 가입한 장애인(조합원) 사이의 임금 격차에 주는 이론적 예측을 구성하였다. 연구방법: 이러한 이론들을 검정하기 위해, 장애인고용패널조사 1차웨이브 1차년도부터 8차년도 자료를 이용하여, 최소제곱 모형과 고정효과 모형을 추정하였다. 연구결과: 분석 결과, 고정효과 모형에서는 비조합원의 임금은 무조합원의 임금과 별 차이를 보이지 않았으나 조합원은 무조합원에 비해 10.2% 높은 임금을 받았다. 표본을 정규직에 한해 분석해 보면, 고정효과 모형에서 무조합원에 비해 조합원이 8.9% 높은 임금을 받았는데 이는 비장애인의 임금 프리미엄에 대한 연구보다 높은 수치이다. 결론: 이러한 결과는 임금 프리미엄에서 독점 모형을 지지하는 것이지만, 장애인에게 있어 임금 프리미엄이 컸다는 점에서 의사 대표 모형을 지지하는 것이다.
Abstract
Purpose: After formulating theoretical predictions based on the threat effect, the monopoly model, and the voice institution model, we attempted to evaluate these predictions by comparing hourly wages among employees whose firms did not have a union, employees whose firms had a union but who did not join the union, and employees who were a member of a union. Method: Drawing data from 1st through 8th waves of the Panel Survey of Employment for Persons with Disability (2008-2015), we fitted to a fixed effects model in addition to an ordinary least squares model. Results: Fixed effects model revealed that union members tended to receive higher wages than employees whose firms did not have a union but there was no wage differentials between employees whose firms had a union but who were not a member and employees who had no union in their firms. We also found that the wage premium of union membership was larger for persons with disabilities than persons without disabilities. Conclusion: These results are consistent with the prediction of the monopoly model in that only union members got wage premium but also are consistent with the voice institution model in that the wage premium of union was larger for employees with disabilities than employees without disabilities.
