Abstract

Focusing on the 2022 Revised Moral Education Curriculum, which emphasizes ‘relatedness,’ this study seeks an alternative perspective in Laozi's Dao De Jing. The Dao De Jing reveals that the mode of existence for all things lies in interdependent relationships and identifies artificial ‘discerning knowledge’ as a fundamental cause of conflict. To overcome this, Laozi proposes ‘No-Knowledge’ (Wuzhi) and ‘No-Desire’ (Wuyu), which create a ‘space of non-being’ (Wu) that allows for the acceptance of others. Accordingly, this study proposes moral educational implications based on these insights: a ‘relational and contextual value education’ grounded in the principle of ‘Correlative Opposition (Xiangguan Daidui)’ to transcend value absolutism, and ‘receptive listening through suspended judgment’ rather than hasty empathy or interpretation. Ultimately, Laozi's thought complements existing critical thinking approaches and contributes to cultivating an ethical attitude of hospitality toward others, moving beyond hatred.
