Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the pedestrian accessibility of basic living infrastructure in urban regeneration areas of Daegu by subdividing the study area and accounting for population density. The research method involved analyzing the average distance from the center point of each 100 m × 100 m grid cell to the nearest basic living infrastructure facility based on national minimum standards, followed by a supplementary analysis that incorporated population density. The accessibility assessment based on the subdivided areas revealed that accessibility to educational, cultural, and public infrastructure was the most vulnerable, whereas accessibility to daily-life and medical convenience facilities was comparatively sufficient. When population density was considered, most areas were found to have no resident populations relevant to the use of educational facilities, making accessibility analysis inapplicable. These findings underscore the necessity of evaluating pedestrian accessibility not only in terms of facility supply quantity but also by considering actual usability and the spatial distribution of the user population. This study is significant in that it assesses pedestrian accessibility in urban regeneration areas of Daegu by incorporating population density at a detailed spatial scale.
