Abstract

Hwahaehwipyeon is a book compiled by Lee Won-soon, a member of the Hansan Lee clan. His grandfather, Lee Gyu-sang, and his father, Lee Jang-jae, played an important role in the transmission of Yasa. Hwahaehwipyeon is a Party Position Manuals that summarizes the history of party strife in China and Korea under the topic of party strife. The narrative in the Hwahaehwipyeon took the form of deciding on a topic related to the party struggle and then writing it from a subjective perspective from the beginning of the incident to its end. It is a history book written in a kind of article style.It is a type of history book in a topic-related style of historical writing. Looking at the remaining versions, it can be seen that Hwahaehwipyeon was completed through several revisions. The fact that Lee Won-sun, a Joseon intellectual, summarized the trend of the long-standing party struggle in China from his own perspective is of great academic significance in that it shows the expansion of intellectual exchanges and interests in East Asia at the time. In addition, Hwahaehwipyeon is not biased toward any one side in its narrative, and claims to simply edit records that have been handed down since ancient times, but in actual narrative, it strictly stands in the position of a Seoin and Noron’s history book. Hwahaehwipyeon clearly reveals its ideological color by describing unfair prison life, realization of justice, and treason in the title. Although there are differences in severity, this position as the Party Position Manuals is also applied to the Party Position Manuals from most other parties. Hwahaehwipyeon is a history book of the party strife seen from a pro-Seoin and pro-Noron perspective.
