방송 3사 뉴스보도 텍스트의 비교분석 - 김태호 사퇴를 보도한 2010년 8월 29일 방송을 중심으로 -
A Comparative Analysis of the Text on the Three Newscasting Networks Broadcast -Based on the News Report of Kim Tae-ho’s Resignation on August 29, 2010-

This paper is to analyze the news of Kim Tae-ho’s resignation in the three networks (KBS, MBC, SBS) on August 29, 2010 in terms of critical discourse analysis. Contrary to the public expectations that TV news should be fair and objective, TV station is the newsmaker that reconstitutes and reports facts on its ideologies and benefits. Therefore, by examining the news reports of the three broadcastings from the perspective of critical discourse analysis, this paper shows that whether or not each TV station would reveal its ideologies or identity and what strategies should be adopted from the view of intentional aspect. The purpose of this study is to review from the critical perspective that a lot of message can be transferred or distorted by the intentions of interest groups joined the discourse with inequality or technical strategy among participants. One of the reasons is that language can be ideological and the ideology is realized through language in the critical discourse analysis. Especially individuals emphatically present the positive properties or actions of ‘us’ and the negative properties or actions of ‘them’ in their ideological discourses. Van Dijk(2000) explains this as the ideological square that makes it up and acts as a justification for the presence of inequality in the society by polarizing in-groups and out-groups through a double process of emphasis and mitigation. Also, according to Huckin’s manipulative silence(2002), the difference between the exposure and quantity of information on the special event can make maximize the positive image and minimize the negative image loss. Lee Won-pyo (2005) comments that speakers or writers will exclude or conceal related information to achieve their aims on purpose. Kim Tae-ho’s resignation is unfavorable to the Korean President undoubtedly. Using the polarization of Van Dijk(2000) and Huckin(2002), those who have a negative and critical attitude will tend to talk about the event much more unfavorably while the others will speak well of the event in a roundabout way with good intentions. The result of the examination shows that KBS is favorable to the Korean executives for reporting the Kim’s resignation the least, on the other hand, MBC and SBS are critical. They are examined on the three news network programs [major news, anchors opening and closing]. In addition, It is checked that each station will not only use linguistic text but also limit the report order and amount strategically to meet its ideology and intention.
