초록
Yeats said that he made a new religion after giving up Christianity. He was deeply interested in such Oriental religions as Hinduism and Buddhism as well as in occultism and mysticism. After meeting Helena Petrovna Blavatsky, he studied and practiced theosophy. On account of his excessive interest in the experimentation of occultism, the members of the Theosophical Society advised him to leave the society. Though he never talked about any influence of Blavaskty and theosophy on him, theosophy left a deep trace on his works, which contain lots of theosophical contents. A Vision, the source of the symbolism of his later poetry, is a book in which all these thoughts of literature, philosophy, history, and religions including theosophy were accumulated.
