선진시기 여성의 호칭법 고찰 ― ≪左傳≫과 西周 金文 비교를 중심으로

Abstract

This thesis outlines Chinese naming system of Pre-Qin Period and deals with especially female naming. It was found through the consideration of this thesis that Bronze inscription of the West Zhou Dynasty, the unearthed document, and Zuozhuan, the classical document, decribed the appellations for female in diffrent aspects. In other words, Xing, surname was mandantorily used for female and the form of address was very comparatively simple adding ‘Zi’ component of her own name, posthumons titles of either herself or her husband, or country names in the latter while the former shows a charateristics that ‘Ming’ component of her name was also added to the form in Zuozhuan. This thesis considers the forms of appellation of Pre-Qin period systemically and discusses the differences among them. The cause of the differences between unearthed documents and classical ones is further analysed.
