구조기능주의적 입장에서 본 무용의 기능

Abstract

The increase in the social function of dance art has sped up the sociological studies on dance, and also requires the studies on the structural-functional theory as a theoretical foundation for the dance as a social-cooperative activity. Of course the conflict theory for the study on the social function of dance should also be balanced with structural-functional theory. Dance in essence is a social art, not as part of other activities such as physical education and music, but as an independent comprehensive art of space and time. Dance and society have had mutual influence. Dance art, on account of its emphasis on originality, sometimes functions as a trigger of social reformation and progress. However, in many cases, owing to the structural dependence upon social stabilization, dance and its education, the art has also been at the mercy of the power more than any other art genres. However, since the modern times, contemporary dance works have a tendency to function as a social progress and reformation, dealing with the social conflicts. This study has been focused on the structural-functional role of dance in its social function. However, it is required that, along with this kind of position, a new, sociological position, which stresses the function of dance as a source of social criticism and reformation, emerge and develop so that our dance study may well be balanced in the matters of social stabilization and progress.
